Le projet kX est un projet de développement
indépendant, dont l'objectif principal est la mise
à disposition d'un pilote audio libre pour les cartes
compatibles kX. Consultez notre page Mission
pour une rapide introduction.
Le pilote audio kX est un pilote WDM (Windows Driver
Model) indépendant pour toutes les cartes son, basées
sur les EMU10K1 et EMU10K2, produites par Creative Technology
Ltd. et/ou E-mu Systems Inc., comprenant notamment les séries
SoundBlaster Live!, les cartes E-mu Audio Production Studio
(APS), et les cartes des séries Audigy.

Les logiciels kX comportent les fichiers systèmes du
pilote et les fichiers d'installation accompagnés d'un
puissant mixeur audio (le Mixeur kX), qui fonctionne comme
une interface graphique utilisateur, donnant accès
à de nombreuses fonctions internes du pilote. Les fonctionnalités
suivantes sont supportées en tout ou partie par la
dernière version du pilote kX : lecture et enregistrement
audio, synthétiseur MIDI (Synth Engine), entrées/sorties
MIDI UART, DirectSound 2D, DirectSound 3D (émulation
logicielle : mode deux haut-parleurs seulement), fontes sonores,
support complet du mode ASIO, chargement/déchargement
du microcode du DSP, contrôle complet des E/S AC97,
décodage logiciel AC3.
Le pilote kX est LIBRE et restera LIBRE. Veuillez
cependant noter que vous pouvez toujours encourager
les développements en effectuant des dons au
Fond kX. Comme l'un de
nos donateur l'a fait remarquer, si tous les utilisateurs
satisfaits ne faisaient qu'une modeste contribution (de disons
10 ? chacun), cela couvrirait largement les coûts et
nous encouragerait à développer de nouvelles
fonctionnalités (et à corriger quelques vieilles
anomalies).
