kX Audio Driver Overview


The kX Audio Driver is a WDM (Windows Driver Model) driver, designed to be used with any kX-compatible PCI sound-card (notably the Creative Labs SoundBlaster Live! and Audigy series of cards, and E-mu Systems' Audio Production Studio sound-card).

The following features are either fully or partially supported by the kX Audio Driver:

Note that the kX Audio Driver conforms to the WDM specification and so it is only compatible with the following Microsoft Windows operating systems: Windows 98 (Second Edition), Windows Me, Windows 2000 and Windows XP.


kX Control Applets

The following kX control applets can be accessed from the kX Menu (via the system tray icon or from within the kX Mixer window):

kX Mixer The main application used for controlling the kX Audio Driver. Includes Master levels and switches, Inputs and Outputs, Recording Levels, AC97 Codec, Effects Levels, SoundFonts and Analyser, as well as providing access to the other kX control applets.
kX DSP DSP Control applet for effect loading, unloading and patching. This applet also provides access to the kX Editor and to the DSP plug-in interfaces (for tweaking effects settings).
kX Router Control applet providing access to the routing of the software input channels, including PCM Wave, AC3, and MIDI Synth (16 channels) and 16 kX ASIO channels (it is merged with previously known kX ASIO).
kX Editor DSP microcode editor. Accessible from within the kX DSP control applet or directly from the the kX Menu.
kX Automation Control applet in which MIDI controls can be assigned to parameters.
kX Remote Remote Controller for kX. It has no buttons at the moment, but they are coming in the future.
kX SoundFont kX SoundFont loader. Provides loading of SoundFonts for MIDI Synth playback.
kX Speaker Test Utility for testing and trouble-shooting speaker setup.
